Monet the Collector, exhibition

From Thursday, September 14 2017 to Sunday, January 14 2018

From painter to collector.

Claude Monet is, of course, best known as Impressionist painter. And indeed he was an artist of exceptional talent. What is less well known, however, is that he was also an avid collector. The artist acquired paintings, drawings and sculptures by other major artists including Delacroix, Corot, Manet, Renoir, Cezanne, Pissarro, Rodin and Signac.
In this exhibition, the Marmottan Museum offers a rare chance to see this fine collection united once again, giving us the opportunity to discover what inspired and delighted Monet among the works of his peers and predecessors.
