Nice Jazz Festival

From Monday, July 8 2013 to Friday, July 12 2013

Jazz on the French Riviera.

Over 500 musicians and groups are scheduled to perform at the Nice Jazz Festival, which is now one of the biggest jazz festivals in Europe. It was set up in 1948 by Jacques Hebey, and took its present name in 1994.

Over 75 live jazz concerts will take place during the festival, with performances on three different stages in the olive groves and Roman amphitheatre ("arenes") every evening. A number of outstanding musicians from all around the world will be performing in an eclectic variety of styles, with the programme balanced between new and classic musical styles.

Some of the very best have performed here in the past, including Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Calloway, Lionel Hampton, Jimmy Cliff, Gilberto Gil, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan, Charlie Mingus, Eubie Blake, and many more.
